Winter Solstice 2015: The Abundance of Your Magic

Not gonna lie, I’ve never started out a reading with The Two of Bottles. It feels kinda intimidating because this card is my romance card, more so than the Lovers card ever is. I even thought about shuffling again & drawing new cards so I wouldn’t have to contend with possibly misrepresenting the Two of Bottles, contend with readers who are like, “What the fuck? Lettie is a liar!” but the more I sat with this card, the more I understood what messages it wants to bring. One day, one sleep, & one morning later, I am ready to convey the blessed shit Two of Bottles has to say.

My question to the Femmeiverse when Two of Bottles popped up was, “What do I need to know about the time between Winter Solstice & Summer Solstice?” up popped Two of Bottles. Woa. Two of Bottles is the card that foretells romance, that giddy feeling where you have the potential to fall in love with everything & everyone. When I think of this card I am reminded of one winter I was so in love & having multiple poems a day, that whenever I left her house I swam in sensuality & felt like flirting with anyone I interacted with—like the barista where I ordered my morning after coffee. I always felt leaving like I could potentially be that spark that started a fast acting fire of cleansing, or passion, or death eating, in any unsuspecting person’s day. Like, maybe they were standing next to me waiting to place their coffee order, then all of a sudden were overcome with the feeling of confessing their love, or drawing that boundary, or devoting themselves to that creative project they told themselves later about.

I often recall that winter with mixed feelings, but the magic I uncovered those cold winter mornings, afternoons, & long nights still make me shiver & spark. The magic I uncovered has always been & will always be mine, & can be conjured without a lover. I am all I need, & you are too. This is the tidings Two of Bottles brings. Drink up.

The Star is an ominous card that wants you to know you are supported in a personal desire, especially if it is a bigger undertaking. It is deeply connected to your Ancestors & Guides, gently sharing, “You are more full than you realize, deer one. We are here, pouring our love into the vessel that is You.” Ancestors & Guides ask you to consider where do you feel full, supported, satiated to the degree of drowsy? That’s them collaborating with you in your life. Exhale.

Sometimes it can be challenging to shift into a life of unending abundance, to feel that deep satiation, & Two of Keys wants you to act as if you are full, to communicate as if you are full, & in doing this, to stir the pot of abundant magic in your own body. Sure, trepidation & doubt is allowed, but remember that your Ancestors & Guides have been steady lending their own energies to yours. Turn the key that you alone hold. Nobody can do it for you.

Artist of Bottles is here to show you that you can bring your heart out of hiding, out from behind those layers of protection, & it’s totally ok if you feel shy about it the whole time it is out. This is the season to try it out—you are safe, that’s what the lighthouse in the upper right side of the card is there to remind you of. Just as the lighthouse helps ships get safely to shore, they will also help keep that heart of yours safe, no crashing against sharp rocks for you & your tender-on-the-sleeve heart of yours. “Which part of my heart?” you ask? The survivor part, love. The ones in most need of your gentleness.

The Instructor, which some of you may be familiar with from last week’s Sagittarius New Moon in Temperance reading, is here again to urge you in the direction of thrival—survival is not enough. So many of us are surviving things every day, every breath, & the Instructor wants you to know that you can create something beautiful with your survival. The something beautiful doesn’t need to be aesthetically pleasing, but it will highlight those scars in such a way that others who have similar scars will recognize you, your survival, & a healing connection can be made.
